           USI Education Sales, NP-Tek and the USI family of companies are pleased to announce our new partnership with The National Center on Family Homelessness -- the only national organization solely devoted to helping homeless children and their families.  We invite you to join USI in supporting this important work. 

More than 1.3 million children are homeless each year in America.  As Educators, you may be aware of these staggering facts about children without homes:

• They are twice as likely to repeat a grade and are suspended twice as often.
• 40% attend two different schools within the same school year, while one-third attend three or more.
• 75% perform below grade level in reading and 72% perform below grade level in spelling.
• Underserved in special education, only 38% of homeless children receive treatment for their disabilities compared to 75% of other children.
• Troubled by serious emotional problems and suffering more from hunger and illness, children without homes are more likely to fail in school than children with homes.   

With over 17 years of experience, The National Center works to understand the causes and consequences of family homelessness—and related issues of poverty, trauma, substance abuse, and mental illness—and bring new hope and opportunities to children and families facing the ultimate crisis.
